    Description

    Krow Construction is currently seeking dedicated and experienced individuals to join our team in the role of Heavy Equipment Operator/Utility Installer.

    This position is critical to our operations as it involves a significant amount of hands-on work with heavy machinery as well as manual labor in the field of utility construction and maintenance.

    The main purpose of this role is to ensure the safe and efficient execution of utility-related projects, including the installation, inspection, and maintenance of wet and dry utilities.

    Responsibilities

    Equipment Operation:

    Operate heavy machinery such as backhoes, mini excavators, and excavators to dig trenches for both wet and dry utilities.

    You will be responsible for the careful handling of these machines to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all team members on site.


    Backfilling and Compacting:

    After the utilities are laid, you will backfill the trenches and use compaction equipment, such as a sheep's foot compactor, to ensure the ground is returned to its original state or prepared for further construction activities.


    Manual Installation Work:

    When not operating heavy machinery, your duties will shift to more manual tasks such as installing pipes for various utility systems, assisting with the inspection of newly installed utilities, and conducting necessary testing activities (e.g., compaction testing, flushing, and pressure testing of pipes).


    Maintenance and Safety Compliance:
    Ensure that all equipment is maintained according to company standards and that all work complies with safety regulations and procedures to minimize risks on the job site

    QualificationsExperience with Heavy Equipment:

    • A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience operating heavy construction equipment such as backhoes, mini excavators, and excavators. Candidates should have a solid understanding of the machinery's operation and maintenance requirements to ensure efficient and safe use on job sites.

    Field Experience:

    • At least 2 years of field experience in construction, specifically in utility installation, maintenance, or related activities. This includes familiarity with the processes involved in digging for wet and dry utilities, backfilling, compacting, and conducting various tests (compaction, flushing, pressure testing).

    Team Collaboration:

    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team. The ideal candidate should have experience collaborating with others on construction projects, sharing responsibilities, and supporting team members in achieving project goals.

    Commitment to Safety:

    • A strong commitment to safety is the top priority. Candidates must have a track record of adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines, with the ability to recognize and mitigate hazards on the job site. Knowledge of safety standards and regulations relevant to construction and heavy equipment operation is essential.

    Additional Skills and Attributes:

    • Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
    • Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and techniques.
    • Effective communication skills, capable of conveying information clearly and working well with supervisors and peers.
    • Problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement practical solutions in the field.
    • A valid driver's license, with a clean driving record, may be required for operating machinery and transporting equipment to various job sites.
