Educational Requirements: High school diploma or GED. Completion of an accredited surgical technology program. Certification in Surgical Technology.

Demonstrates effective time management by completing patient case assignments efficiently

Works in a scrub role in the Operating Rooms and undertakes additional assigned tasks. Sets up cases with the required instruments and supplies before the commencement of each procedure. Adheres to hospital protocols for hand hygiene. Demonstrates proficiency as a certified scrub technologist. Conducts accurate counts of sponges, needles, and instruments with the RN circulator following hospital guidelines. Maintains a well-organized sterile field, ensuring instrument cleanliness and safety measures are upheld. Prepares and handles specimens accurately, delivers them for analysis with proper labeling, and logs details precisely. Ensures alignment of sterile field, preventing biocontamination and instrument damage.
Monitors and preserves the integrity of the sterile field. Assists in equipment monitoring, room temperature, and humidity checks, promptly escalating issues as necessary. Ensures correct patient positioning during surgery through careful monitoring. Guides new staff members when assigned, demonstrating clinical expertise and positive communication skills. Adheres strictly to infection control measures and safety protocols.
Contributes to department productivity by effectively managing time. Facilitates quick turnover of cases, assisting in cleanup and setup for subsequent procedures. Accurately documents supplies used for billing purposes. Reports any issues or necessary changes to the supervisor promptly. Meets requirements for overtime, on-call coverage, and holiday shifts. Responds to on-call assignments within the specified timeframe.
Enhances OR efficiency by handling routine tasks. Performs special assignments and aids in daily room cleanup, workroom organization, and central core upkeep.

Job Overview
Works in a scrub role and performs various duties as assigned under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
