- Manage technical projects and programs involving complex sea surface and undersea equipment, systems, and infrastructure
- Coordinate initial requirement analysis and design concepts of protoype and production-ready equipment and systems
- Coordinate final system or component equipment design, fabrication, testing, and installation
- Prepare technical documents and reports associated with assigned duties
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline from an ABET-certified program
- Strong analytic and communication skills; ability to explain/present technical solutions in a clear and concise manner.
- Fundamental understanding of optical engineering and physics principals, including the engineering design process, etc.
- Familiarity with features of optical data transmission
- Knowledge of optical networking components
- Experience with creating and reviewing engineering and manufacturing drawings to facilitate design presentation, review, and fabrication.
- Experience with field, lab and offshore work
- Proficiency with MS Projects, Word, MS Access, Excel, and Power Point
- Master's Degree in an Optical Engineering/Science research field
- Working knowledge of transmission protocols, design of photonic systems and circuits, telecommunications fiber obtic cables (terrestrial and subsea), optical telemetry methods
- Proficiency with software and programming languages such as MS Visio, Agile, MathCAD, VPI Photonics, LabView, C+, C++, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Concur, and QuickBase
- US Citizen aged 18 or older at time of hire
- Males registered or exempt from Selective Service
- Determined suitable for federal employment (process includes a background check and fingerprinting)
