Description

• performing a number of functions on a variety of fleet vehicles and equipment; as well as industrial equipment; according to company policy; federal, state, and local regulations; and his or her own knowledge of the equipment, driving a refueling tanker using specialized computer fuel management equipment to locate trailers for fueling, checking refrigerated trailer fluid levels, adding fluids as needed, keeping fuel logs, refilling the fuel tanker using specialized safety equipment, assist in bulk refueling process, conduct fuel audits, and clean and detail equipment

Additional Required Qualifications

• must not have one of any of the following serious traffic violations within the previous seven years: driving recklessly as defined by state or local law or regulation (includes but is not limited to driving in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property); or negligent driving
• must not have one of the following criminal offenses within the previous seven years: hit and run; vehicular assault; or fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement; using the vehicle to commit a felony, other than a felony described above
• must not have one railroad-highway grade crossing violation within the previous three years (when driving a CMV)
• must not have one out-of-service order violation within the previous three years (when driving a CMV)
• must not have one prohibited item violation for alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs found in a CMV within the previous three years
• must not have two moving violations/citations (excluding any violations specifically covered in this posting) within the previous three years
• must not have a second occurrence or combination of a major traffic offence and out-of-service order violation
• must have a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) evaluation before the start date in the position if a voluntary admission for alcohol or drugs was made while in a non-Class A CDL position within the previous three years
• must not have an alcohol result of .02 to .039 (when driving any vehicle for Publix business) within the previous three years *
• must not have one of the following: involuntary admission for alcohol or drugs; unacceptable drug result on a Publix or company-sponsored drug test (while in a Class A CDL position) *
• must not have two voluntary admissions for alcohol or drugs (while in a Class A CDL position) *
• must not have failed to report any of the following while in a Class A CDL position: DUI, DWI, operating under the influence or while intoxicated (according to state law); refusal to submit to testing (drug or alcohol); out-of-service order violation for a CMV (issued by Publix or law enforcement) *
• must not have failed to report any of the following while in a Class A CDL position within the previous three years: any citation; license suspension, revocation, or reinstatement; disqualification from operating a CMV; accident; hours-of-service violation
• must not have any of the following within the previous three years: two Class II accident; two chargeable accidents; or any combination of these accidents resulting in a total of two
• must not have more than three suspensions or other sanctions prohibiting the individual from operating motor vehicles within the previous three years
• must not have two hours-of-service violations within the previous six-months or three hours-of-service violations within the previous three years
• must not have any of the following within the previous 2 years while working: dock/trailer safety violation; Lock-Out/Tag-Out violation; equipment modification violation; or violation for bypassing safety devices
• must have the ability to work well with others and be a team member
• must show enthusiasm, initiative, and pride in work and
• must show commitment to Publix's mission.
• For previous violations related to drug or alcohol issues, the individual must have seen a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP), completed drug and alcohol education classes and any treatment recommended by the SAP, obtained a certificate of completion, and submitted to and passed all follow-up testing.

Additional Information

• must obtain a Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) within two weeks of accepting the contingent job offer
• must complete training and obtain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 90 days of his or her start date in the position, unless extended by the Director of Transportation and Maintenance
• must pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical (including a drug test) for intrastate drivers within two weeks of accepting the contingent job offer (additional time may be provided if a physical condition is correctable)

Other Compensation Information

• Weekend premium pay: $2 per hour weekend premium pay is available

Year End Bonus

To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week's pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check. In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks' pay.

Required Qualifications

• be at least 21 years old
• have a valid driver's license and authorization to drive a company vehicle (on or before his or her start date in the position)
• be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended periods of time
• be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds
• be capable of generating and processing work on a computerized fuel-management system
• be able to read, write, and solve math problems
• be able to interpret, understand, and follow instructions
• not have an unacceptable drug test result on a Publix or company-sponsored drug test within the previous three years
• must have primary residence located within 100 miles of the work location
• must resolve pending sanctions against the individual's driver license that would result in suspension, revocation or cancelation prohibiting the individual from operating motor vehicles within 14 days of meeting with the paperwork processor
• must not have one of the following major traffic offenses within the previous seven years: being under the influence of alcohol as prescribed by state law; being under the influence of a controlled substance; transportation, possession or unlawful use of a controlled substance while using a CMV; having an alcohol concentration between 0.04 and the level defined by state law as being under the influence of alcohol when driving a CMV or any vehicle for Publix business); refusing to take an alcohol or drug test as required by a state or jurisdiction under its implied consent laws or regulations or Publix; leaving the scene of an accident; driving a CMV when, as a result of prior violations committed operating a CMV, the driver's CLP or CDL is revoked, suspended, or canceled, or the driver is disqualified from operating a CMV
• must not have one of the following major traffic offenses: causing a fatality through the negligent operation of a vehicle, including but not limited to the crimes of motor vehicle manslaughter, homicide by motor vehicle and negligent homicide; violating state or local law relating to motor vehicle traffic control (other than a parking violation) arising in connection with a fatal accident; using the vehicle in the commission of a felony involving manufacturing, distributing, or dispensing a controlled substance; using the vehicle in the commission of any felony involving possession with intent to manufacture, distribute, or dispense a controlled substance
• must not have one of any of the following serious traffic violations within the previous three years: speeding excessively (15 mph or more above the regulated or posted speed limit); making improper or erratic traffic lane changes; following the vehicle ahead too closely; speeding in a school zone; passing a stopped school bus; careless driving; violating state or local law relating to motor vehicle traffic control (other than a parking, weight or vehicle equipment violation) arising in connection with a crash resulting in personal injury); violating a state or local law or ordinance on motor vehicle traffic control prohibiting texting (when operating a CMV or any vehicle for Publix business); violating a state or local law or ordinance on motor vehicle traffic control restricting or prohibiting the use of a hand-held mobile telephone (when operating a CMV or any vehicle for Publix business); driving a CMV without obtaining a CLP or CDL; driving a CMV without a CLP or CDL in the driver's possession; driving a CMV without the proper class of CDL and/or endorsements for the specific vehicle group being operated or for the passengers or type of cargo being transported; driving a personally-owned CMV which is not properly insured
