- Manage, in coordination with the Burn Treatment Center research nurse, prospective, retrospective, and completed research studies
- Current licensure to practice Professional Nursing in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Intensive, comprehensive, and rehabilitative care is provided to seriously burned pediatric and adult patients.The Nathan Speare Regional Burn Treatment Center at Crozer-Chester Medical Center is the only burn facility in suburban Philadelphia providing comprehensive treatment for pediatric and adult burn patients and their families # from emergency and intensive care to rehabilitation, follow-up and outpatient services.
Nathan Speare Regional Burn Treatment Center has earned an international reputation for excellence in holistic burn care, treating more than 10,000 patients since 1973.
We also treat non-burn injuries, such as #road rash,# medication reactions and other skin diseases that result in conditions similar to those experienced by burn patients.
Recognized as a national leader in burn care, the Crozer Burn Center has been verified by the American Burn Association and the American College of Surgeons, is a center of excellence for both pediatric and adult burn patients and was the first in the region to provide this standard of care for patients of all ages.
After more than 40 years, the Center continues to be at the forefront of burn care through a whole-patient, team approach to burn care, cutting-edge care techniques, advanced technology, primary research and education of future critical care and surgical physicians.
Our burn treatment team # including physicians and surgeons, plastic surgeons, pediatric specialists, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, psychologists, social workers, case managers, pharmacists, nutritionists, respiratory therapists, patient care technicians, clinical educators, and secretaries # is dedicated to providing the highest quality burn care.
Since Crozer-Chester Medical Center became an accredited trauma center in 1987, the Burn Treatment Center has met the educational requirements set by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation.
It is the first burn center accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).In June 2000, the Burn Treatment Center became the first in suburban Philadelphia to meet the criteria of the American Burn Association#s Burn Center Verification/Consultation Program, the highest standard of care for burn patients as approved by the American College of Surgeons.
The Burn Treatment Center consists of twelve intensive care beds, including two higher level-isolation rooms (negative pressure rooms), fifteen comprehensive care beds, two dressing rooms, and 2 hydrotherapy rooms as well as a rehabilitation gym and recreational therapy area.
An outpatient Burn Wound Care Center provides follow-up care, which is adjacent to the entrance of the in-patient burn treatment center.
The Medical Directors and Associate Medical Director of the Burn Treatment Center are appointed by the hospital President, in conjunction with the Chair, Department of Surgery and previous burn center director.
The Directors oversee the medical care which is provided to burn-injured patients, and provide guidance to physicians, as necessary, to ensure that appropriate care is provided.
Additionally, they collaborate with the Clinical Nurse Director in the following activities: 1. 4.Manage, in coordination with the Burn Treatment Center research nurse, prospective, retrospective, and completed research studies Interdepartmental clinical services are available 24 hours a day for patient care and/or consultation on seriously burn-injured patients with multi-care needs such cardiovascular, renal, neurological, complex medicine, pulmonary and pediatrics; consultations from physicians are sought on a formal basis as the need arises.
Because of the nature of burn injury and the complications that occur, physicians from the Division of Infectious Disease, the Division of Pulmonary Disease, the Department of Pediatrics, and the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation are invited to make rounds frequently in the Burn Treatment Center and to suggest changes in medical care.
Integration of specific departmental services, namely Medicine, Psychiatry, Nursing, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Recreation Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Nutritional Services, Pharmacy, Case Management, and Social Service provide comprehensive care to the burn patient.
