JOB SUMMARY


The Driver is not only required to truck items from one point to another but many times is the sole member of our team to have direct customer contact.

On-time and in uniform is a daily requirement for this fast-paced exciting position.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Is qualified in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) to operate assigned vehicles in local, intrastate and interstate moves.
  • Oversees the vehicle loading process and builds a load using own good judgment in order to safely transport shipment and avoid injuries and accidents.
  • Completes accurate documentation.
  • Completes and passes all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations requirements for qualification to operate assigned vehicle.
  • Maintains clean driving record and operates legally at all times with the knowledge that citations (professionally or off duty) affect qualification status and may impair the ability to work.
  • Performs safety inspections as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and reports defects in prescribed manner.
  • Where applicable maintains Drivers Daily Log in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Inspects truck and keeps it in a safe and operable condition.
  • Possesses ability to interact effectively with the public/customers and maintain a positive cando, serviceoriented attitude.
  • Flexible to changing routines in order to accomplish the common goals of the organization.
  • Possesses knowledge of packing and loading techniques.
  • Drivers are tractor trailer drivers; the person that drives the crew van is not considered a driver on the gang sheet.
  • They are responsible for the safe loading and securing of the truck loads and assists with loading.
  • Ensure all debris cleared from the client's site, and area cleaned as needed.
  • Any product being returned to the warehouse should be secured, noted on the work order, and reported to receiving.
  • Some physical requirements include lifting 70 pounds, driving for 11 hours, carrying items up or down stairs, walking for long periods, and working in all types of weather environment.
  • Drivers are most times the company's facetoface point of contact with external customers and is therefore expected to always deliver exceptional customer service.
  • All employees are expected to act in a safe manner at all times and ensure that those around them do not put themselves or others at risk.
  • May be required to assist installers with the assembling and disassembling of furniture as required by specifications given by the supervisor.
  • Safety is everyones responsibility. At ALL times working safely is a condition of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • The work environment changes daily, but a normal day consists of driving a truck with a multiple stop route. Due to changes in our customer needs, some days will require manual labor and no driving.
  • Some physical requirements include lifting 70 pounds, driving for 11 hours, carrying items up or down stairs and working in all types of weather environment.
  • We try to keep drivers on a consistent start time, but our customers needs dictate the hours we work. Expect to work mostly days but night and weekend work are required. Due to our customers everchanging workflow little notice can be given with night and weekend work. All working hours will be in accordance with DOT rules and regulations.
  • Some travel may be required to start at our other Meyer facilities; other travel may be required to provide service to our customers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School graduate
  • Valid Drivers License
  • One year of driving experience operating a box truck required
  • The ability to do pre trips on truck regarding vehicle maintenance
