- Invited and attended to World Shakespeare Conference 2005 in Queensland University Australia and presented an essay titled: Self Discovery in King Lear of Shakespeare. 16-21 July 2006.

 

-Attending the Postgraduate Research Students Colloquium (26-27 August 2005) at De Palma Inn, Sepang organized by the School of Language Studies and Linguistics-University Kebangsaan Malaysia and helped the MA students in how to write a Literature Review ofr their thesis and got a certificate of attendance from the Chair of the School of Language Studies and Linguistics; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ruzy Suliza Hashim. 

 

-Participation and assistance in the seminar on Academic Research and Writing held in English Language School, University Kebangsaan Malaysia, on February 2006 by Professor Alan Maley. The key areas discussed were:

 

            •           Purpose of the Investigation

            •           Posing Questions and Defining Problems 

            •           Primary and Secondary research 

            •           Methods and Results: what they have in common 

            •           Highlight important differences between writing at the undergraduate level and the graduate level. 

            •           Introduce students to abstract writing, writing for journal articles, literature reviews, plagiarism and academic integrity, elements of theses and dissertations, and other types of scholarly writing.

            •           Offers tools for essay organization and discusses how outlines can help students shape their information into a useful format. 

            •           Demonstrate how thesis statements and transition sentences work together, and talk about introductions and conclusions.

 

-Invited to attend in the seminar on Language Rules, Structure and style arranged by English Language School, University Kebangsaan Malaysia to assist the Language school, on March 2006. The following issues were discussed in the seminar: 

 

            •           The rules of Standard Written English and ways that students can adapt these rules to develop a personal writing style. 

            •           Discussing the manipulation of grammatical forms to add variety, show emphasis, enhance coherence, and strengthen unity. 

            •           Talking about grammatical structures which may include sentence boundaries, consistent verb tense, pronoun reference and case, subject/verb agreement, appropriate use of passive voice, and parallelism. Attention was also given to common grammatical errors. 

 

-Attending the 2nd Postgraduate Research Students Colloquium (23-25 August 2006) at Allson Klana Resort, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan organized by the School of Language Studies and Linguistics-University Kebangsaan Malaysia and presented a paper with the title: The Impact of Sufi Mysticism and Eastern Literature on the Art of Doris Lessing and got a certificate of attendance and presenting a paper from the Chair of The School of Language Studies and Linguistics; Assoc.
