Sabrina Heavey

I'm a law school student with seven years of experience practicing in a boutique law firm with heavey litigation focusing on Labor and Employment Law. I have a strong foundation to work from when it comes to my public law career, and my background in healthcare and biology provides me with an even greater understanding of the legal complexities of healthcare systems. I'm excited to continue applying my knowledge and experience to continue learning. 

I am currently pursuing my Juris Doctor Candidate at Southern University Law Center, where I have been awarded the CALI Award for Family Law. Additionally, I am an Associate Editor for the 2022-2023 Journal of IP, Technology & Law.

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of New Orleans and a Data Analytics Online Accelerated Course from Colabery School of Data Analysis.

In terms of professional experience, I have had Legal Externships at Teche Action Board, Inc., 2L Summer Clerk positions at Liskow & Lewis APLC and 1L Summer Clerkships at Gordon, Arata, Montgomery, Barnett, McCollam Duplantis & Eagan. I have also held office manager roles at Karl Bernard Law LLC and worked as an Administrative Assistant and Receptionist at the same firm. Other roles that I have held include Epic Associate Analyst at Ochsner Hospital and Benefit Coordinator Supervisor and Senior Licensed Pharmacy Technician for Walgreens Pharmacy.

These experiences provided me with essential knowledge in various fields including law, data analytics, health care compliance and FQHC matters as well as pharmacy practice. With my diverse background along with my enthusiasm to learn new skillsets; I am confident that I can be an asset as I continue to learn.

I graduated from the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and am now pursuing my Juris Doctor Candidate at Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
