About Narayan Weibel:
I’m Narayan Weibel, a graduating senior at UC Santa Barbara completing a B.S. in Cell and Developmental Biology (GPA: 3.8). I grew up in the small town of Trinidad, California, where a close connection to nature sparked my early interest in biology. That foundation, along with hands-on skills developed through woodworking and construction, has shaped the way I approach problem-solving, both in science and in life.
My goal in life is to serve underprivileged communities internationally and learn from every single community I enter. In an effort to work towards this future I am fluent and continuously culture my fluency in Spanish and French, with intermediate comprehension of other Romance languages.
Experience
I’m a certified EMT-B with experience providing emergency care in both the U.S. and Mexico. At UCSB Student Health, I have interned in the Physical Therapy department for the past 3 years, assisting with patient care and therapeutic treatments. I currently serve with the American Red Cross as a Disaster Action Team responder in Santa Barbara County.
My experience as a scientist is in neuroscience research at UCSB’s Alexander Lab, where I design, create, and run behavioral experiments focused on learning, memory, and spatial navigation.
I am pursuing a career in medicine where I hope to combine my passion for people, science, and education with compassionate and dedicated care.
Education
As an EMT I was trained through the UCSB PACE program, a 20 week comprehensive hands on and in-person program.
I am graduating as a senior at UC Santa Barbara. With a B.S. in Cell and Developmental Biology (GPA: 3.8), I have taken a wide variety of courses from immunology, physiology and microbiology to organic chemistry, biochemistry and physics. I have also taken elective courses in French and Spanish. My medical and biological knowledge are inextricably linked and have given me a solid foundation from which to build my professional career.
