Matthew Walker

I am a teacher of elementary students with disabilities. I have worked as a special educator for 3 years. In this time I have worked extensively with students with various disabilities including ADHD, ASD, LLD, OCD, as well as ELLs. I am passionate about learning and teaching. It is my mission to make education accessible and meaningful to all students to provide them the tools for growth and continued learning. This includes social emotional learning, academics, and making education tied to students' interest.

• Communicated with lead teachers, child study team members, and relevant staff the specific needs of my assigned students and their response to supports.
• Supported student learning in self contained classes and inclusion classes, as well as special subjects and settings outside the classroom such as field trips, concerts, and assemblies by clarifying expectations, differentiating for the needs of the student, co-regulating emotions, and providing access to various tiers of support.
• Designed and delivered lessons and centers activities for 1:1 and small groups across various subject areas (ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies) and assessed for learning.

• Encouraged development and practice of social skills and interpersonal communication through sharing, turn taking, and collaboration in classroom and after school enrichment activities.
