Marisa Foresta

My name is Marisa Foresta and I am currently pursuing my fashion merchandising degree. After graduating, I hope to become a buyer. If I were to describe myself in a few words it would be: hardworking, a quick learner, self starter, and a proficient  communicator with coworkers and customers.

So far I do not have any professional experience in the fashion industry. However, I have been working in retail for about a year and a half. Here I have truly been able to connect with customers in ways that I haven't been able to in the food industry. In retail I have learned how to understand what a customer needs when they are unsure of it themselves. I have also learned how to be quick on my feet when a problem arises and come up with ideas that leaves them satisfied.

While studying fashion merchandising, I have learned valuable information that I wouldn't have on my own. At Orange Coast College we learned: how fibers interact with finishing techniques, the history of fashion and how it is today, and the numerous career paths that we could take. In once of my classes, we were given guest speakers every week that were alumni's and their careers that followed. Before that, I wouldn't of even guessed what their titles entailed, but now it has lead me to choosing buying as my future career.
