About Leesa Mckenzie:
I am a dedicated and compassionate educator and certified Speech-Language Pathology Assistant with a strong foundation in communication science, child development, and inclusive education. With a B.S. in Speech-Language and Communication Disorders from Nova Southeastern University and hands-on experience in clinical and school settings, I specialize in supporting diverse learners academically, socially, and emotionally. My background includes delivering individualized therapy, implementing behavior interventions, and working closely with students from early childhood through adolescence. I’m passionate about creating engaging, student-centered environments that foster growth, confidence, and a love for learning.
Experience
A well-rounded background in education, speech-language therapy, and behavioral support. I currently work as a Pediatric SLPA at Progressive Pediatric Therapy, delivering individualized services to children with diverse diagnoses, including ASD and Down Syndrome. Previously, I worked as an ABA therapist at Minds In Motion, applying data-driven interventions to support behavior and learning. I also served as an aftercare counselor at The Benjamin School, helping students academically and emotionally. My experience includes student teaching in Palm Beach County, working with both general education and special populations, and volunteer roles supporting individuals with special needs and elderly populations.
Education
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Speech-Language and Communication Disorders from Nova Southeastern University, where I gained a strong foundation in language development, communication science, and therapeutic interventions. I also earned an Associate of Arts in Elementary Education from Palm Beach State College, preparing me with core instructional strategies and child development knowledge essential for classroom and support roles.
