Kat Barker

I have a wealth of experience working with a variety of mental health disorders in both a correctional setting and the private practice setting, including severe mental illness, personality disorders, substance use disorders, and PTSD. I am passionate about counseling individuals who have suffered trauma and I aspire to become even more specialized in treating trauma and stressor-related disorders. 

My research focuses on reentry services for the offender population, and I know that I will continue to advocate for this population regardless of the path my career takes post-graduation. I have developed skills in both teaching and supervision over the course of my doctoral program.

I have worked in the jail setting, in private practice with a focus on trauma, eating disorders, and personality disorders as well as substance abuse, and in an eating disorder treatment center. 

I have a master's in clinical mental health counseling and a doctorate in counselor education and supervision.
