John Poncini

With a background in Biomolecular Engineering from UC Santa Cruz, I have cultivated a diverse skill set through various roles in technology and software development. My career began with an internship at MAPS Public Benefit Corporation, where I developed and implemented a cloud-based video recording system for clinical trials, adhering to stringent regulatory standards.

Over approximately four years, I progressed from intern to Senior Software Engineer, then to Associate Director of Technology. During this time, I played a crucial role in forming the IT and data management branches, integrating AWS cloud services, and enhancing the company's critical business infrastructure.

I led the development of a sophisticated clinical video recording and supervision system, incorporating encryption, secure cloud storage, and custom video playback solutions. I also designed an online donation platform, significantly improving user experience and increasing recurring revenue through a modular, scalable architecture.

My expertise extends to AWS cloud administration, video and informatics systems, web development, and project management. I have successfully overseen the transition to new CRM systems, managed cloud assets, and implemented continuous integration and deployment practices. My work has consistently prioritized security, operability, and cost-efficiency, leveraging free and open-source tools to achieve optimal results.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biomolecular Engineering from Baskin Engineering at the University of California, Santa Cruz. During my studies, I focused on courses in computational biology, protein engineering, biomechanics, and structural chemistry, excelling in these areas and earning recognition for my academic achievements.
