Jane Huntington
Marketing / Advertising / Public Relations
Services offered
I'm passionate about finding beautiful and practical design solutions and deeply invested in storytelling's power. A lifelong learner, I stay current with new methods and trends.
Before coming to UX, I worked on advertising and editorial projects as a photographer and retoucher in the fashion, entertainment, financial, and healthcare sectors. My greatest strength is my ability to pivot and adapt quickly to new challenges. My focus since graduating has been to continue to grow my research and design skill set while participating in design challenges and hackathons.
My most recent project was as design lead for "Get the Lead Out," a crowd-sourcing app that allowed users to identify if their home had lead pipes by uploading photos from their phones. This project was in partnership with the TOP program, the Census Bureau, and the White House Department of Science and Technology Policy to help underresourced communities apply for grants under the new infrastructure law. I led a team of five researchers and designers to identify what issue we wanted to address, identify our MVP, develop a prototype, and facilitate collaboration with a cross-functional team of software developers and data analysts.
Experience
Before shifting to UX design, I spent most of my career in the photo industry and worked in the fashion, entertainment, financial, and healthcare sectors. Since finishing General Assembly's UX Bootcamp in August of 2021, I've thrown myself into growing my UX/UI skillset and design skills. Conducting user interviews and qualitative research came naturally. Leveraging my background in photography, I understood the power of compelling content to tell the brand's story. I took the research lead on team projects for the Care2Prevent and Lincoln Park Zoo projects. I also handled the UI design for the Bon Appétit, Care2Prevent, the Institute for Career Transitions, and Unnameable Books projects. I recently wrapped up a month-long stint as design lead for "Get the Lead Out," an app that allows localities to crowdsource data on the lead pipes in their community.
My professional philosophy is simple: meet people where they are and then build upon that according to their needs. I come from a background where technical execution, design, storytelling, and the concept behind the work are equally important.
Education
I have an MFA from Pratt Institute in Photography and multi-media applications and studied photography at Art Center College of design. I completed General Assembly's UX Design Immersive Bootcamp in 2021. Since graduating GA, I've worked on my UI skill sets through LearnUI.com and taken courses in typography from The Futur, and completed training in Adobe XD and Adobe Illustrator.
