James Casey

James Casey is a senior technical executive and innovation leader with 28 years of experience across advanced materials, chemical manufacturing, optics, plasma processing, and energy technologies. He is best known for building and scaling high-value technology platforms that translate deep scientific innovation into commercially successful products.
 

At Dow, James has led global, multidisciplinary teams and served as platform leader for silicon quantum dots, developing business cases exceeding $500M in net present value with 
internal rates of return greater than 50%. His work spans reactor design, process scale-up, IP strategy, and commercialization across energy, architectural, and optical applications.

James has held technical leadership roles at the Naval Research Laboratory, Alcatel Optical Fiber, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and Schlumberger. He holds a Master of 
Engineering in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics from the Colorado School of Mines. He is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt and holds seven granted patents.
