Emma Coffey

I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Minor in Digital Media from Marquette University. My decision to pursue Journalism and Digital Media in college stemmed from my love of writing. While at Marquette, I've had the opportunity to gain experience in all aspects of Journalism such as: writing, reporting, pitching story ideas, operating a camera, anchoring and producing packages to air on MUTV, Marquette's news station. I also worked as an intern for The Morning Blend at TMJ4 Milwaukee. I produced content for the website, wrote web copy, and posted clips of segments to the website after each episode aired. 

In addition, I worked for the university and utilized my degree by curating social media posts for the Marquette University Wellness Center Instagram account. Most recently, I lived in Nashville, TN and started working as a sales associate at VICI Collection where I was then promoted to key holder. While at VICI, I gained experience with customer service/relations and aspects of marketing within the retail space.

These work experiences have led me to pursue a career in communications/public relations and social media creation. I am passionate about communication in the written and verbal forms and branding. My preferred work environment is one in which I play an integral part of a team providing public relations/communications and/or social media content for a company or client. I have a strong work ethic, am goal-oriented, can multi-task, am good at prioritizing, work well with others and am determined to take the steps required to obtain a successful career. In summary, creating communication that connects people to people, institution, companies, products and ideas is where I believe I can make the most impact and be an asset to a company. 

I recently completed an internship at Beasley & McCusker Communications as a PR Associate. Beasley & McCusker is a PR firm located in Silicon Valley focusing on helping women entrepreneurs and socially responsible companies. 

Most recently, I was a PR liaison for Evars Collective and Lauren Evans Interiors at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase. As a PR liaison, I represented both of their brands and connected potential clients or customers with their design businesses.

While at Marquette, I gained experience in all aspects of journalism such as: writing, reporting, pitching story ideas, operating a camera, anchoring and producing packages to air on MUTV, Marquette’s news station. I produced professional news stories by finding a relevant topic or subject, conducting interviews, using a camera to capture footage, writing the news script, and compiling both the written and visual content to provide the public with an important story. 

I also worked as a wellness peer educator where I mentored underclassmen regarding health and wellness. In this position, I had the opportunity to curate social media posts for the Marquette Wellness Center Instagram account.

From October 2021 to March 2022, I was an intern for The Morning Blend at TMJ4 in Milwaukee. As an intern, I produced content for The Morning Blend website which involved writing web copy and posting clips of the different segments to the website after each episode aired on TV. The internship allowed me to experience working under a tight deadline . 

This past year, I worked as a key holder at VICI Collection in Nashville, TN where I assisted customers in finding an outfit or fitting room, and resolved any concerns or needs of customers. In addition, I assisted with creating social media content and in-store event planning. Through this job, I gained experience with sales, customer service, leadership, and marketing responsibilities.

I recently completed an internship at Beasley & McCusker Communications as a Public Relations Associate. As an intern, I created posts for the Beasley & McCusker LinkedIn and Instagram accounts, captured digital content at two events, helped build media lists, verified print/online sources for press releases, and drafted press releases.
