About Elizabeth Bailey:

I currently serve as an online instructor in the College of Innovation and Design at Texas A&M University-Commerce. I earned a BS in Management, MS in Instructional and Performance Technology from Boise State University, and PhD in Applied Training and Technology Development from the University of North Texas. In the corporate world, I’ve served as a director of training and instructional design for a couple of large corporations, where I gained vast including the development of SAP training for employees at 30 distribution warehouses, the transformation of onboarding experiences for new employees, the development of a mentoring program for existing employees, and the building of a learner-centered, performance support system.

I belong to several professional organizations, including the American Educational Research Association, the Association for Educational Communications and Technology, the International Society for Performance Improvement, the American Society for Training and Development, and the Society for Technical Communication, where I’m a recognized Fellow. I routinely share information and knowledge through conference presentations and by working with different association chapters and special interest groups. I’m a member of Kappa Delta Pi and Phi Theta Kappa and have served as a faculty advisor to the student-led chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success, Sigma Alpha Pi. I love teaching adult students online and believe that adults who seek to balance the complexities of life while also supporting themselves and their families deserve more practical, effective, and non-traditional ways to learn.

Experience

As a former director of training and instructional design departments, I bring extensive corporate experience to my current role teaching online classes. My previous corporate responsibilities encompassed designing SAP training for 30 distribution warehouses, transforming employee onboarding processes, developing a mentoring program, and creating a learner-centered, performance support system using Drupal. The content I develop incorporates diverse real-world scenarios from multiple industries, enabling learners to use problem-based learning to solve practical challenges.
My background in online, blended, and classroom learning environments, including Canvas, D2L Brightspace, and Blackboard, has equipped me with innovative approaches to leveraging technology in support of knowledge exploration and preparing learners to resolve occupational challenges. As an instructor in andragogy, statistics, organizational leadership, or technical communication, I cultivate an environment where students can build upon their life experiences and apply critical thinking skills, positioning them as active learning partners. I facilitate learning activities such as case studies and corporate simulations that foster real-world experiences, offering practical and relevant knowledge. My content-driven, real-world activities require learners to apply the information they acquire.
