Dorothy Groesbeck is an award-winning artist and animator residing in Western Maryland. Dorothy holds a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Animation from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and has shown films, paintings and drawings in galleries and festivals across the region. While attending Edinboro, Dorothy worked on an Addy award-winning animated advertisement that aired on local television. She aims to become an established artist working in the industry doing what she loves, which is creating a variety of artwork.

Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office products, 3D Studio Max, and Pixologic ZBrush. Expert knowledge of Adobe suite, with a focus on graphic design and illustration. Designed graphics and brochures. Created character designs and illustrations. Developed texture mapping on models. Integrated wide variety of elements into models including still-life photographs and 3D graphics.

Illustration and Graphic Design:

George Washington University

Worked as part of a team developing illustrated resource materials for UNICEF. The project involved creating a booklet outlining poverty in Belize. The booklet focused on a few individuals, and told their story in the style of a graphic novel.

Art Director & Modeler: 

Hagerstown Community College (HCC) Technology and Computer Studies Department – Hagerstown, Md:

Led the creative direction for an animated product simulation for HCC’s Instrumentation & Process Control Technology division.

Specific duties included:

Coordinating overall production, planning, workflow, and production schedule, assigning project tasks and roles, planning, and coordinating production meetings, and assigning deadlines. Also modeled parts of the water tank for the client.

Production Assistant, Modeler & Animator: Edinboro University Department of Animation – Edinboro, Pa:

Provided support to the entire production process for multiple animation projects and assisted the Production Coordinators with the animation support and preparation assistance.

Highlights include:

Designing and modeling characters for the 2011 Student Addy Award winning commercial for Mount Pleasant Ski Resort and working as a clean-up artist for the 2D short film “Of Frogs and Gods.”

Photographer in E-Commerce: Horizon Goodwill Industries

My responsibilities included setting up each item in the photo box, taking photos from various angles, and then submitting the photos off to the people who list the item online. This is an e-commerce side of Goodwill that operates like eBay. I communicated with all kinds of people and made sure to ask questions as needed. I believe this experience with communication will help me when providing safety for students and staff on the bus. I believe in strong and clear communication, so problems can be solved. I am very patient and understanding with people. I am also detail oriented, so taking notes is also something I thrive well in.

Front End Associate: Martin’s Grocery

My responsibilities included janitorial services. I maintained a safe environment for customers to shop. I maintained and provided baggage services for a convenient shopping experience for customers. I also answered customers' questions regarding products throughout the store. I gathered carts in a timely manner, for customers to have a great shopping experience.

Sales Associate: Olympia Candy Kitchen

My duties included keeping the inventory filled with various chocolates and other sweets. I helped at the register, making sure customers checked out in a timely manner. I assisted customers in getting what they wanted and boxed up their orders. In addition to inventory, I boxed up special candy packages to put on the shelves. I collaborated with the staff to make sure the store is clean and tidy before, during, and after the store closes. I always maintained a professional attitude, to make sure customers had a wonderful experience shopping. I was able to ask questions to the staff to enable me to better help the customers. In the store, I was able to quickly learn how to run all the different tasks so that I was able to multitask.
