Detail-oriented first-generation college graduate with a bachelor's degree in geology and 2 years of field experience using and maintaining various delicate research equipment. Able to work safely outside and in physically demanding environments. Well acquainted with various computer software and equipment such as Microsoft Office Suite and Polarized Light Microscopes. Looking to use and acquire new skills in the field of geology and chemistry from trained professionals and prospective companies.

Professionally I have a combined four years of warehouse experience and two years of retail. In my role as a Trainer/Problem Solver at Target's Upstream Distribution Center, I routinely prioritized and managed multiple tasks. For instance, I conducted work audits at regular intervals, addressing team member errors promptly, and communicated progress and challenges to both management and team leaders. Simultaneously, I trained new and existing team members in various functions, requiring me to balance training schedules, assess individual learning needs, and provide support where necessary. This experience honed my ability to efficiently handle and prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment. During my two years at JCPenney as a Customer Service representative, I consistently delivered excellent customer service. I operated the cash register, managed online orders, and worked in various departments, requiring effective communication and multitasking. Through my professional and educational experience, I became proficient in the Microsoft office suite. 

I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in geology with an emphasis in geology from California Polytechnic State University, Pomona. Cal Poly Pomona offered three emphasizes which included geology, environmental, and geophysics. Although my emphasis was geology, I made a conscious effort to explore all three. I took extra classes such as seismology and geochemistry and this led me to participate in three different research projects in each respective geology emphasis.

For my geophysics research project, I went to Malibu Lagoon and Ridgecrest in California. At Malibu Lagoon I collected data from tests using resistivity, refraction, GPS, and ground penetrating radar. This data was used to create a detailed map of the experiment at the lagoon and the results were analyzed to determine if water from the Pacific Ocean was seeping into the lagoon through subsurface geologic structures. I conducted the same experiments at Ridgecrest with the purpose of studying the aftermath of the Ridgecrest earthquake.
 

Next was my geology emphasis research project. This research was conducted in the Montaña de Oro State Park where we analyzed ancient marine terraces. I measured the length of ancient marine terraces as their difference in elevation to determine the average recurrence interval between major uplift events and the average uplift of these events. I created a cross section of one the terraces that had its geologic units exposed and collected fresh samples from each the exposed units. These samples were used to help date the age of the marine terrace.
 

Finally, for my environmental emphasis research project I went to the Dos Palmas Nature preserve. The oasis at the nature preserve had been shrinking for some time and was thought to be a result of cementing the All-American Canal. The canal runs very close to the nature preserve and was comprised of dirt until 2009. I went to the nature preserve and collected water samples from each of the water wells present. After returning to the lab, I analyzed each of the water samples and compiled a report of the results. This included a detailed map which depicted the location where each of the water samples were collected the nature preserve’s relation as well to the canal.
 

Each one of these research projects required extensive travel, working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions as well as collaborating with others. The experiments conducted during the research project required me to work in teams of 2-4 students under the guidance of either a graduate student or our professor. This entailed coordinating work and
school schedules, creating an inclusive and diverse environment, and ensuring all colleagues were participating. In every single project I used excel, word, google docs, google maps or GIS, and proprietary software for the research equipment.
