Barbara Bonner-Carolan

I am a Nurse Practitioner who has worked in the psychiatric field

for more than 42 years (17 years as an NP). I have recently moved

to Cleveland from Chicago, where I managed psychiatric medication

in nursing homes. While I collaborated with an MD for 6.5 years,

I have recently obtained a Full Practice Authorization certificate (FPA)

for the state of Illinois. 

I am very interested in speaking with you about this exciting position.

and often undervalued, area of healthcare.                                

RN in 1980, worked on an Adult Psych unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami, FL ; 

1982, worked at Northwestern Memorial Hospital on an Adolescent Psychiatric Unit in Chicago, IL;

In 1985, started at Chicago Lakeshore Hospital on an Adolescent Psychiatric Hospital for 13 years;

In 1998, started with Evanston Northwestern Homecare in Evanston, IL. on psychiatric team; 2005, received NP certification

In 2005, in New Jersey, worked as NP at Kimball Medical Center for 2 years in Psychiatry and Med-Surg.

In 2007, started at Rush-North Shore Hospital on Adult Psychiatric Unit (until 2013)

In 2010, began as Psychiatric Adjunct Clinical Professor for North Park University in Chicago (until 2022)

In 2016, began working with a psychiatric practice in Chicago area, seeing clients at 16-18 nursing homes,

until relocating to Cleveland in June 2022.

1974, earned BA in Sociology from University of Florida in Gainesville, FL;

1990- earned MSN from University of Illinois at Chicago, with focus in psychiatric nursing

2004- completed Adult NP certification at North Park University in Chicago

Have attended numerous Continuing Education programs in various topics germane to Psychiatric Nursing

Have inquired about, and am considering starting, a PMHNP program.
