Our program, Camp Harkness, gives people with disabilities a traditional overnight summer camp experience with swimming, crafts, sports, music, dances, campfires, and more, all by a gorgeous beach on the Connecticut shoreline.

We have weeks for young adults and for adults (all ages).

We work closely as a team and train everyone at the beginning of the summer on how to care for our campers and help them have the best time.


The Summer Camp Seasonal Administrative Assistant at Oak Hill's Waterford location works June 10th to August 8th, Sunday-Tuesday, Thursday-Friday 9a-5p with some flexibility needed.

The Summer Camp Seasonal Administrative Assistant performs administrative and office support activities.

Duties may include fielding phone calls, receiving and directing visitors, data entry, creating and generating reports, sorting mail, and filing.

Software skills and strong communication skills are required.


Minimum Requirements:


  • At least age 1
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Willingness to learn how to provide personal care to campers of all ages and ability levels

Requirements:


  • Perform administrative functions requiring confidentiality, initiative, and sound independent judgment to ensure the execution of efficient administrative procedures.
  • Ensure completion of administrative tasks in areas such as employee records, recruitment, employee and labor relations, and compliance with Department of Public Health.
  • Effectively manage both confidential and nonconfidential information as it applies to drafting correspondence such as letters, reports, notifications, etc.
  • Perform general administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, managing files, ordering supplies, preparing invoices, answering phones, entering data, and directing visitors.
  • Participate in Check-In and Check-Out day preparation and facilitation. Enthusiastically welcome campers and caregivers. Help them navigate the process and direct questions.
  • Provide coverage for other staff when necessary.
  • Use least intrusive methods during situations with a risk of injury such as the need for Physical and Psychological Management Training (PMT).
  • Participate in Staff Cleanup and debrief at the end of the summer camp program.
  • Assist with reviewing records. Aid in the preparation of an evaluation and summary of current camp season, including inventories, incident and accident reports, and camper reports and recommendations for the following season.
  • Fulfill additional duties and responsibilities as determined by the Leadership Team.
