Description

Summary/Objective The Accountant I provides professional accounting support and assist in managing the day-to-day financial operations of the organization by using their keen attention to detail skills, effective communication skills, and excellent organizational skills.

Essential Functions

Review and process expense reports and invoices
Prepare invoices for customers
Record and process payments received from customers
Prepare bank deposits
Reconciles business credit card account and general ledger accounts
Participate in month-end closing process
Ensure compliance with company policies and report any discrepancies
Assist with annual audit preparation
Assist in workshop/conference registrations
Develop rooms reservation and flight schedule spreadsheets for Commission/workshop/conference meetings
Manage the administration for the expense reporting and travel management systems

Required Education and Experience

Baccalaureate degree in Accounting or Finance
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a junior accountant or accountant
Outstanding understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to initiate, organize and prioritize workload
Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software; specifically proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and QuickBooks
Ability to think and work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail
Ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, volunteer leaders, program personnel, and the public
Ability to deal discreetly with confidential information
