The University of California-Merced, CA operates a biomass heating power plant with renewable resources at its Vossenack location and uses the energy generated for a recycling facility.


Due to the constantly growing material flows, we are in need of a Machine and Plant Operator (m/f/d) at short notice.


Your responsibilities:

Performing tasks to ensure proper and uninterrupted operation of the plant, including:

  • Regular inspection of equipment and machinery
  • Starting and stopping of plant areas and simple switching operations
  • Operation of wheel loaders and forklifts (depending on qualifications)
  • Feeding the preshredder, setting up, operating and monitoring production equipment
  • Loading of trucks
  • Conducting quality control and documenting results
  • Collaborating in the continuous optimization of production equipment
  • Troubleshooting technical issues in the plant and supporting repair and maintenance personnel, independently carrying out minor maintenance and repair work, as well as cleaning and maintenance tasks
  • Oncall duty

Your profile:


  • Ideally, you have completed a technical vocational training or have relevant experience
  • Selfmotivated and able to work independently, reliable, teamoriented
  • Knowledge of operating machinery (desirable)
  • Forklift or earthmoving machinery license is desirable, but not a requirement (we will cover the costs for necessary courses)
  • Willingness to work in a 3shift system if needed
  • Good German language skills in speaking and writing
