Duties:
OIA works across disciplinary boundaries to lead and coordinate strategic programs and opportunities that: advance research excellence and innovation; develop human and infrastructure capacity critical to the U.S.
Interdisciplinary Staff Associate Duties
- Serve as the Executive Secretary of the Advisory Committee for Environmental Research and Education and chair of the Environmental Research and Education Working Group.
- With the support of a data analysis contractor, lead an exploration of the scientific and, where appropriate, career impacts of the investments made by Integrative Activities programs both current and past.
- Work with a small group of NSF staff to plan and initiate a national engagement on science that seeks to promote broad public engagement in discussions of the potential of science and engineering to address societal needs.
- Assist in the implementation of merit review, award management, and outreach processes for collaborative crosscutting programs.
- Advise and assist in the development of shortand longrange plans, establishing goals and objectives for collaborative, crosscutting research programs.
- Represent OIA programs, the Office, and the Foundation within the scientific community, with other NSF units, with other appropriate agencies and organizations, and with the public, accurately reflecting NSF policy and positions.
- Establish contacts and maintain active involvement in program and related areas through participation in professional activities. Maintain familiarity with salient current research developments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

This position is outside the competitive civil service.

This position is in the bargaining unit represented by AFGE Local 3403.
Qualifications:
- Relevant research fields include biological, mathematical, physical, social, behavioral and economic sciences, computer and information science and engineering, engineering, geosciences, and STEM education research.
- An openness to innovative approaches to proposal and project review is essential.
- The following are desirable but not essential:
- Experience managing or co-managing NSF programs that contribute to environmental science or engineering.
- Prior participation in interdirectorate program management activities at NSF.
- Prior experience in facilitating discussions amongst researchers with different perspectives, and participation in managing the review of interdisciplinary proposals.

If your degree was obtained from a foreign institution, please also submit the certification from the Association for International Credential Evaluation Professionals, or certification equivalency.
Additional information:
Relocation MAY be paid contingent upon the availability of funds.
