Duties:


  • Responsible for general upkeep of landscape, such as cutting down smallmedium sized trees, trimming hedges, watering grass, and weeding flower beds.
  • Uses standard riding lawnmowers to mow approximately 17 acres on grades and slopes;
  • Reads and uses manufacture manuals for operating electronic equipment.
  • Pressure washes the exterior of buildings and large pieces of equipment, and washes unit vehicles.
  • Cleans floors, empties waste receptacles, cleans and sanitizes rest rooms, offices, and laboratories.
  • Operates large power equipment such as lawn mowers, jack hammers, tillers and chain saws.
  • Performs maintenance repairs on heavy power equipment.
  • Possesses knowledge of safety procedures when using electric powered equipment, household cleaning agents, and tools such as ladders.

Requirements:


Conditions of Employment:


  • You must be a US Citizen or US National.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
  • Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
  • Successful completion of oneyear probationary period, unless previously served.

Physical Effort:


  • Work requires some stretching, kneeling and bending to perform cleaning and lawn maintenance assignments. Some climbing of ladders is required to replace light bulbs and to clean windows. Requires frequently lifting and moving objects up to 50 lbs.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.


Applications will be evaluated in accordance with Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) Delegated Examining Procedures and USDA policy using category rating.

Applicants who meet basic minimum qualifications will be placed in one of three categories:
Best Qualified, Well Qualified, or Qualified. Within these categories, applicants eligible for veteran's preference will receive selection priority over non-veterans.

Category placement will be determined based on applicants' quality of experience and the extent they possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA) or competencies:
