Description

Duties:


  • Provides maintenance and repairs for a variety of parts, components and accessories for motor vehicles, construction equipment, and utilities support equipment (both gasoline and diesel powered).
  • Adjusts brakes, transmission linkages, engine idle, voltage and currents control valves, sensing valves, expansion valves, and pressure regulator valves.
  • Cleans or replaces filters, screens, battery cables and clamps, engine components, and heating and cooling devices. Flushes radiators and replaces antifreeze solution.
  • Turns brake rotors and drums, turns stator and replace pads, overhauls wheel and master cylinders and makes necessary adjustments.
  • Occasionally operates tractor trailer and wrecker to provide emergency road service.
  • Performs frontend alignment on vehicles and mobile equipment.
  • Troubleshoots problems on diesel engines (i.e., combustion powered generator systems including load equalizing units) and performs minor maintenance and repairs.

Conditions of Employment:


  • You must be a US Citizen or US National.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt.
  • Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
  • Successful completion of oneyear probationary period, unless previously served.


  • Direct Deposit

  • Per Public Law all Federal employees are required to have federal payments made by direct deposit to their financial institution.
  • Must possess and maintain Maryland State Commercial Driver License, Class A, Passenger Endorsement.
  • Must possess Environmental Protection Agency, Section 609 certification.
  • During inclement weather (i.e., snow, ice) may be required to work outside of normal work schedule.

Physical Effort

Requires crawling, bending, standing, and working in various strained positions for a considerable portion of working time; close hand-and-eye coordination in performing critical assembly and adjustment tasks, heavy lifting, pulling, or pushing of assemblies.
