Description

Trees and shrubs, path and terrace construction, machine and team work, all surrounded by nature as far as the eye can see.

This is all part of the job of a gardener in the field of garden and landscape construction (known as a landscape gardener).

However, this is not a job for those who prefer to stay indoors, but for fit individuals who are able to work with their hands.

Physical strength is important, but so is critical thinking. The greatest opportunities in garden and landscape construction (GaLaBau) are available for those who are "nature-loving practitioners". These are young people who enjoy working in nature, are skilled in craftsmanship and technology, and are team-oriented.

The three-year training to become a landscape gardener takes place on two levels: in the company, where apprentices learn the practical aspects of gardening from the ground up, and in vocational school, where they receive theoretical instruction.

There, they learn things that they can directly apply to their work.

This includes plant knowledge, construction technology, and math, so that they have a good understanding of spatial relationships when building a garden.

The latest technology is used in this field: laser beams are used to level sports fields, extensive earthworks require the use of large machines, and heavy stones and large plants can only be moved with cranes and excavators.

Landscape gardeners work with a variety of materials, paving paths and terraces with natural and concrete stones, and know the right plants
