    We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Sr. Program Officer-Foundation on our AMA Foundation team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2 days a week in the office.

    As a Sr. Program Officer-Foundation, you will working closely with the Executive Director, responsible for the management of the AMAFs portfolio of charitable programs from conception to implementation. Serve as the primary staff liaison to related volunteer committees as well as to grantees and other key stakeholders. Direct the activities of the Program Committee and the LGBTQ+ Fellowship Commission. Work with individual and institutional donors related to their respective program support.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Manage AMAF Program Portfolio

    + Oversee and provide strategic insight into the AMA Foundations program portfolio from conception to implementation, as well as termination.

    + Oversee multiple Foundation programs including: the Physicians of Tomorrow Scholarship Program, Leadership Development Institute Program, Excellence in Medicine Program.

    + Programmatic work may include application process, promotions, and outreach to stakeholders, ensuring the working order of the portals/technology, awarding of the recipients, program evaluation, curriculum updates, events, and utilization.

    + Oversee the National LGBTQ+ Fellowship Program, including work of the LGBTQ+ Fellowship Commission the coordination of its meetings, the online Request for Proposal process, awarding of grants and program evaluation.

    + Oversee all other programs, grants, and special programmatic activities of the AMA Foundation.

    + Ensure completion of all strategic and implementation goals as approved by the AMAF Board of Directors.

    + Prepare agenda and materials for all Program-related committee meetings, participate in all program-related committees/Board meetings and implement approved motions and directives. Provide support during AMAF Board Meetings as well as AMA meetings with Foundation presence.

    + Ensure accuracy in web-site content and in all print materials.

    + Plan budgets for assigned programs for the upcoming year, track budget and code invoices for accounting.

    + Provide content and information for the AMAF fundraising and communications staff to aid in the attainment of sponsorships and funding for assigned programs.

    Liaison to AMAF Collaborative Stakeholders

    + Develop and foster relationships and coalitions within the AMA and other healthcare organizations to achieve the goals of the initiatives. Maintain relationships with grantees for assigned programs.

    + When requested, communicate information on AMA Foundation projects to AMA and AMA Foundation leadership, donors, grant-seekers and other key stakeholders.

    People Management

    + Lead, mentor, and provide management oversight for staff.

    + Responsible for setting objectives and evaluating staff performance; ensure staff development and identify opportunities for advancing staff skills and expertise.

    May include other responsibilities as assigned

    REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in non-profit administration or related field preferred.

    2. Minimum 7+ years of experience in non-profit programming.

    3. Extensive familiarity with educational programs, such as training, internships and/or fellowship programs; knowledge of medical school education preferred.

    4. Minimum 3+ years of experience in people management; able to grow and mentor staff.

    5. Demonstrated ability to strategically oversee and implement programs, administer grants, and evaluate programs. Experience working directly with Board members, industry representatives, and medical experts; experience working with committees to achieve desired goals.

    6. Excellent project management and budget development skills, including a successful track record of independently coordinating and completing multiple projects with competing deadlines.

    7. Proficiency in Microsoft software suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) required; experience with Raisers Edge database and preferred

    8. Well-developed public speaking skills, and presentation skills.

    9. Demonstrated ability to exercise confidentiality and discretion.

    10. Some travel is required.
