Description

  • The Berlin Institute of Health at Charité (BIH) is dedicated to medical translation, using biomedical research to develop personalized approaches to prediction, prevention, diagnostics, and therapies. The institute also aims to use clinical observations to inspire new research ideas, with the ultimate goal of providing medical benefits to patients and the general population. Established in 2013, the BIH is primarily funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the State of Berlin, and has been integrated into Charité as its third pillar since 2021.
From September 1st, 2023 until August 31st, 2026, the BIH is seeking a:

PhD Student in Computational Biology/Bioinformatics (f/m/d)
The "Computational Genome Biology" group, led by Prof. Martin Kircher, focuses on research in sequence analysis, data mining, machine learning, and functional genomics. Our team develops computational methods to identify and score functionally relevant genetic changes in the human genome.

One of our main research questions is understanding how gene regulation is encoded in our genomes during development and across different cell types.

In this position, you will work on developing and implementing new methods to analyze the regulatory genome of patients with rare genetic diseases.

This work is part of the Case Analysis and Decision Support (CADS) platform at BIH and will involve close collaboration with the Medical Genetics Department at Charité.

You will be co-supervised by Dr.
