Description

The YWCA Greater Harrisburg is seeking a full-time professional representative to provide victim services to child victims of domestic and sexual violence and their families at UPMC's Children's Advocacy Center.

The YWCA and UPMC have a longstanding and productive partnership, working together through various disciplines to reduce the trauma and aftermath of abuse for children and their families.


In this role, the advocate will provide crisis intervention, supportive counseling, information, and referrals, and connect families to ongoing services provided on-site at UPMC's Children's Advocacy Center.

In addition, the advocate also provides support to the YWCA's domestic and sexual violence programs; assisting with hotline coverage, shelter services, safety planning, and other crisis-related services at the YWCA's main office.


  • The ability to maintain a professional demeanor, dress appropriately, and with an emphasis on treating others with respect, while maintaining a positive attitude
  • The ability to work independently while exercising good judgment and adhering to program policies
  • Conducting oneself with responsibility, accountability, integrity, and a drive for excellence
  • Ability to balance assigned tasks and priorities daily
  • Prior crisis intervention experience and/or experience working with victims
  • Ability, experience, and willingness to work with children and families
  • Advanced communication skills (written and verbal), proven deescalation skills, along with interpersonal and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel)
  • Bachelor's degree in human services or related field with prior related work experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving history, and reliable personal vehicle. Proof of insurability may also be required
  • Current FBI, criminal, and child abuse clearance or the ability and willingness to obtain

Pay:
$20.00 per hour


Expected hours:
No less than 37.5 per week
