Division Description
The Children, Youth, Family and Transitional Age Youth services Division (CYFTAY) offers an array of services to low-income and underserved clients with multiple challenges and abilities: Infants, toddlers, and preschool children, including those with special needs


Youth:
including transitional age youth, pregnant| parenting teens and youth in the foster care system


Families:
including low income, immigrant, monolingual, and homeless populations.

The CYFTAY division offers multidisciplinary programs including Early Care and Education, Early Intervention| Inclusion, Family Support, Mental Health Services, Health, Nutrition, Wellness and Parenting Education Programming.


Brief Job Description

This floater position entails providing support as needed at various sites, including our Early Care and Education Centers and the CACFP Main Kitchen.

The 2-key focus of this role is to ensure the general maintenance/upkeep of the facility/facilities and to offer logístical support in all aspects of the CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program).

This includes tasks such as maintaining cleanliness, conducting repairs, and assisting with food program operations to ensure smooth functioning across different locations.


Program Specific Responsibilities

JANITORIAL:


  • Clean facility/facilities and work areas to ensure Felton Institute meet health and safety standards and presents an attractive appearance
  • Sweeps and mops floors throughout the center and outdoor spaces. Spot mop as needed
  • Dusts classrooms, offices, staff lounge, and other areas according to schedule
  • Cleans and disinfects toilets and refills toilet seat covers, toilet paper, paper towels and soap dispensers as needed
  • Vacuums regularly and disinfects equipment and play structures
  • Clean the Infant/toddler/Preschool yards
  • Picks up litter from fencedin area around the building and sweeps sidewalk in front of building
  • Inspects outdoor play equipment and yard daily, removes any dangerous items, and sweeps per schedule
  • Keep drains cleared
  • Washes windows as requested by supervisor
  • Disposes of all trash, recycling, and compost daily
  • Receives laundry from classrooms and washes, dries folds distributes according to schedule.
  • Maintains the landscaping of the facility (water plants, etc.)
  • In collaboration with Program Management, participates in the ongoing implementation of Injury/Illness Prevention Plan and Emergency Preparedness

SECURITY:


  • Checks, closes, and secures all windows and doors at end of day
  • Ensures exits are clear, fire doors are unlocked
  • Supports as needed to address unusual and/or unsafe situations
  • Reports concerns immediately to a Manager
  • Supports overall building safety and security

CENTER ASSSISTANT:


  • Meal service and preparation per CACFP and Health/Safety Guidelines
  • Prepares and serves meals on site as needed (hot breakfast, lunch service or as listed on cycle menus)
  • Per CACFP requirements, portion out fluids, meals/snacks and delivers to classrooms
  • Pick up/wash meal service dishes, trays, and utensils daily
  • Responsible for overall upkeep/maintenance of the kitchen area and carts
  • Cleans/sanitizes sinks and surrounding areas (counters, hoods, surfaces, top of refrigerators, freezers) on a regular basis

RECORD KEEPING:


  • Keeps running inventory of items in all storage areas and kitchen.
  • Works with Supervisor to place orders/replenish supplies
  • Logs necessary information regarding facility issues, repairs, incidents
  • Maintain required CACFP temperature logs daily
  • Collects, maintains, and reports daily meal count to CYF/TAY Main Office
  • Maintains other records/logs related to CACFP Meal service and Health/Safety Compliance.

OTHER DUTIES:


  • Liaison with the public i

SFFD, Property Management, Contractors.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Manages requested pickups/deliveries

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a custodian (willingness to participate in formal training)
  • Ability to independently speak, understand, read, and write English adequate to the meet the needs of the job
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to pass a Physical Exam and provide clear TB test result
  • Must pass a Department of Justice fingerprint clearance and a Child Abuse Index clearance as required by licensing
