As a construction mechanic, you will use your manual skills to work with sheet metal, profiles, and pipes, assembling them according to the specifications on production drawings to create complete steel structures.
The main tasks of this job include preparatory work in steel construction, tack welding and welding using various methods, and post-processing for final assembly.
The production of high-strength connections, which are essential for quality, is done manually or with the help of state-of-the-art welding robots.
Training process
During your three and a half year training, a combination of vocational school (David-Röntgen-Schule in Neuwied) and on-the-job training in Windhagen will prepare you for your future career.
You will gain comprehensive knowledge in all areas, including:
- Cutting/Laser/Burner: Here, you will learn how to use advanced storage, laser, and cutting technology, while also gaining insight into extensive work planning.
- Small parts: You will learn how to read technical drawings and complete small tasks independently.
- Steel construction: Working in a team, you will assemble chassis for heavy construction machinery according to production drawings.
- Welding robots: You will learn how to monitor complex work processes and program stateoftheart welding robots.
