The community of Helgoland is currently seeking a

Head of Department for Citizen Services and Traffic (m/f/d)

This is a full-time permanent position (39 hours or 41 hours). The position is open to both employees and civil servants (m/f/d).

Your diverse tasks will include:



General management tasks, such as:
  • Supervision of all employees in the department (including citizen office, regulatory office, fire department, port and landing service)
  • Quality assurance and further development of the department's services
  • Preparation of statutes, guidelines and regulations
  • Processing of objections and decision on remedy or referral to the objection authority, support of the procedure, if necessary also in court or with the public prosecutor's office
  • Committee work: Preparation of documents, participation in committee meetings (community council, main committee and committee for family, education and social affairs)
  • Personnel responsibility/management
Financial responsibility, such as:
  • Budget planning for the department and obtaining approval from the community council
  • Tendering and awarding of contracts
