The Transfusion Medicine Laboratory provides blood group determinations, pre-transfusion diagnostics, and specialized erythrocyte and thrombocyte serological examinations at the highest level of care for the Carl Gustav Carus University Hospital Dresden.


Starting on March 1, 2023, a position as a Medical Technical Laboratory Assistant is available in full-time employment, initially for a period of 12 months.

Your responsibilities include tasks in the field of immunohematology (blood group/thrombocyte serology) and in the blood bank with various shifts including regular working hours, early shifts, late shifts, night shifts, weekend and holiday shifts, and on-call night shifts


Specifically, these tasks include:

  • Routine examinations of pretransfusion serology, such as blood group determination and antibody screening
  • Compatibility testing (crossmatching, Coombs tests, etc.)
  • Handling difficult immunohematological cases, such as antibody differentiation using specialized immunohematological examinations and techniques
  • Quality control measures and quality management updating SOPs
  • Proper handling of blood and blood component preparations
  • Performing disinfection and hygiene measures
  • Participation in teaching and practical training of university and technical school students and in scientific research tasks
