The Transportation Supervisor I reports to the Transportation and Quality Assurance Services Director.

The Transportation Supervisor manages all transportation scheduling activities, and supervises the Drivers who provide daily transportation to Day Treatment Program Members adults with intellectual disabilities.

This position will facilitate all necessary actions to ensure successful and safe transportation of Program Members.

This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

route and transportation scheduling; fleet management, collaborating on maintenance and repair; accident reporting and resolution; Driver hiring, training, and management; coordination with other program providers; and, Member and parent/guardian contact and support.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual disability or a similar population requiring attention and compassionate care
  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to gain knowledge and implement practices that show attention to compassionate and safe supervision of individuals with ID
  • Good driving record, must pass MVR inquiry

Responsibilities

  • Provide efficient and responsive transportation services by developing optimal routing/scheduling and collaborating with the vehicle maintenance team to ensure that all transportation vehicles are well equipped and safe for the transportation of OSBI program members.
  • Coordinate all scheduling and route changes, Member absences, and Driver changes to relevant parties to ensure timely and quality coverage and transport of Members to and from program locations and events.
  • Maintain all Transportation Books and Safety Packs to ensure drivers/staff have adequate supplies and information required to complete their assigned routes or community outings with members.
  • Project a professional, knowledgeable, and capable image consistent with the One Step Beyond mission in public interactions.
  • Consider the welfare, growth and development of program members as a top priority in all organizational and program decision making, planning, and development, and model and demonstrate appropriate behavior management techniques (Article 9 training) with program members.
  • Communicate effectively and in a timely manner with members and parents/guardians to address concerns, maintain positive relationships and serve as an advocate for members and a resource for parents/guardians.
  • Handle difficult situations with a positive attitude by actively seeking problem resolution, creative solutions, and program and organizational enhancements to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Serve as a model and mentor to lead the Transportation Team, offering regular performance evaluation and support, and ensuring that the team has clearly defined roles and are aware of the requirements of their job, as well as demonstrating familiarity with One Step Beyond Employee Manual and personnel policies.
  • Collaborate with HR to facilitate transportation program applicant interviews and hiring processes as well as ongoing inservice training and monitoring of staff certifications and other ongoing personnel file updates.
  • Collaborate with Life Skills, Vocational and Recreation teams to provide adequate transportation support for special events such as Special Olympics, field trips, Friday Fun Night/Social Saturday outings and special engagements during program hours.
  • Continuously evaluate the department effectiveness, and implement improvements and adjustments to program strategies.
  • Seek opportunities to collaborate with and learn from colleagues as well as sharing knowledge, experience and best practices to achieve a greater degree of service to the organization and its program members.
  • Demonstrate selfawareness of strengths and challenges and implement strategies to enhance strengths and address challenges.

Pay:
$15.25 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
