During the theoretical phase of their studies at the DHBW Karlsruhe, students of the Mechatronics program are taught fundamental scientific knowledge and content from the fields of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and computer science.

In addition, subject-specific content (e.g. sensors and measurement processing), interdisciplinary content (e.g. project management), and non-technical qualifications are part of the theoretical phase. In the practical phase, students deepen their knowledge and work on their own tasks. They are prepared to analyze technical systems with an interdisciplinary perspective, which is necessary for their future professional tasks (e.g. construction, development, or testing of systems).
