Summary:
Job Responsibilities:
2) Demonstrates sound clinical judgment in assessing patients' health care needs, consulting with providers and others as necessary
3) Accurately performs and documents Point of Care testing and required quality assurance checks.
4) Accurately performs and documents telephone triage, including assessment, guidance given, patient response and plan(s) for future intervention.
5) Assists in the processing of prescription renewal requests in accordance with applicable law and regulations governing such acts.
6) Accurately and thoroughly documents the patient visit in a timely manner, including assessment, care given during the visit, patient response and plan(s) for future intervention.
7) Identifies and assesses patient education needs and, in conjunction with providers, provides one-on-one education to patients and families.8) Independently tracks and reviews test and lavatory results, notifying the provider of critical lab values and abnormal results within the appropriate time frame
9) Assists with practice process improvement through participation/contribution on teams, data collection and other efforts to increase efficiency, productivity and quality.
10) Communicates and cooperates appropriately with providers and other staff, patients and parents to foster compassionate, safe patient care and teamwork. Demonstrates responsibility for his/her own continued intellectual and professional growth. Serves as a role model and leader, and appropriately oversees and directs patient care and work flow. Performs I.V. starts when appropriate.
Required Work Experience:
1) Three to 5 years of clinical experience
Preferred Work Experience:
1) Practice-specific experience preferred
Skills and Competencies:
1) Able to work in a fast-paced clinical environment and to handle multiple tasks; able to remain calm under pressure
2) Knowledge of appropriate age-specific pediatric developmental stages, theories and concepts
3) Excellent assessment and triage skills
4) Strong communication and customer service skills

Diploma in Nursing (required)
Certifications:
Basic Cardiac Life Support - American Heart Association, Registered Nurse - State of Massachusetts
