Position Summary:


The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for managing execution of the daily operations of the inventory control process within the distribution center.

This position manages, directs cycling counting of the product, physical inventory, and product loss and damage.

This position serves as a liaison between supply chain, suppliers, and the distribution center, making sure loads arrive as planned to assure supply to our customers, and working with suppliers on quality and damaged product.


Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Fosters an environment that is conducive to teamwork and collaboration; supports a professional, respectful, and inclusive work environment, while maintaining Martin Brower's standards for personal and operational excellence
  • Manage/lead the hourly cycle count team driving improvements in Safety, Quality, Inventory, and team Productivity
  • Coaches, mentors, and develops existing employees and resolves performance problems and discrepancies
  • Serve as the liaison between Supply Chain and the Distribution Center
  • Partner with Logistics, Supply Chain Services and Shipping to create an inventory control environment to successfully meet the company's service and profit goals
  • Schedule and plan physical inventories; reconcile the physical inventory variances and provide reports based on the reconciled inventory numbers. Coordinate daily cycle counts and research variances. Provide reports to necessary departments
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are followed to minimize product loss and damage, including but not limited to inventory damages, inventory exceptions, claims, and transfers
  • Prepare and analyze weekly and monthly reporting of inventory control results and activities from the warehouse management system (WMS)
  • Manages vendor credit process; reviews the quality of goods being delivered from vendors while also confirming that they are in excellent condition before being shipped to our customers
  • Ensure proper warehouse slotting to ensure successful shipping operations and customer order fulfillment
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree in business, logistics or related field with 5+ years of related experience or High School Diploma with 8+ years of relevant experience
  • 3+ years' supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of Inventory Control philosophies and systems
  • Experience with multiple demand/inventory planning systems
  • Demonstrated ability to function in a deadline driven, selfdriven, fastpaced work environment
  • Ability to multitask and work independently with strong attention to detail and followup reporting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Must be flexible with start and end times that are communicated in advance that support Inventory Control best practices for Distribution Centers
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal direction and supervision
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills to be able to evaluate, interpret information and procedures, understand, and act on and resolve issues with creative problem solving
  • Travel up to 10% as needed
  • This position must pass a postoffer background and drug test

Preferred Skills and Experience:


  • Food Service Distribution experience preferred
  • Advanced degree in Supply Chain preferred
