Position Summary:

The General Manager II oversees the Operations, Sales and Marketing and Merchandising for their assigned facility and territory. This position is accountable for achieving overall operating results consistent with company and individual performance goals.

The General Manager II works with the Market Unit President to maximize performance and drive top and bottom-line business results.


Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • Lead the alignment and execution of the company's long-term strategy
  • Develop and achieve the annual operating plan and budget
  • Evaluate and adjust proposed budgets to achieve overall company goals
  • Direct communication and collaboration with customers, franchise partners, and distributor partners to ensure results meet or exceed expectations for service reliability and accuracy
  • Ensure alignment of plans and execution strategies of cross functional teams
  • Ensure strong supply chain practices are in place from endtoend of the business
  • Design and build a culture of continuous improvement and develop the capability of the operation
  • Provide a safe environment for team members and visitors, eliminate accidents and oversee the security of facilities and team members by ensuring a culture of Wellness and Safety
  • Assess business conditions, evaluate emerging business needs, i.e., seasonality, promotion events, etc., and take action to address nearterm opportunities to improve service, reduce costs and/or generate incremental revenue to enhance operational results
  • Leverage consumer insights to improve the identification of market opportunities, the performance of brands, and channel and/or pricing segmentation and innovations that have the potential to enhance margins, profits, revenue, and market share
  • Create and translate a structured and disciplined innovation strategy into longrange, sustainable commercial success and business growth
  • Identify new business opportunities, conducting new business development activities and developing new product opportunities into commercial and marketing success
  • Direct the adoption and use of improved processes and procedures and achieve incremental business results from the use of these investments
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on union and labor relations at the direction of the company's Labor Relations team i.e., grievances, arbitrations, collective bargaining, union processes, contract administration, etc. as appropriate
  • Create high customer service expectations amongst team members
  • Monitor results with customers to ensure performance is meeting expectations and take action to correct performance gaps and/or address improvement opportunities
  • Inspire and lead a team of leaders that manage day to day operations
  • Maintain a strong focus on talent attraction, employee development/training, employee retention, and performance management/coaching in partnership with the local Human Resources team
  • Partner with local manufacturing team as appropriate
  • Other projects or duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree, 10 plus years of distribution, warehouse, logistics, transportation, sales and supply chain experience and 6 plus years of people leadership experience or HS Diploma/GED, 13 plus years distribution, warehouse, logistics, transportation, sales and supply chain experience and 7 plus years of people leadership experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills
  • Excellent collaboration and influencing skills
  • Experience creating and implementing a growth strategy with verifiable positive results
  • Talent management skills along with strong history of building highly engaged and high performing teams
  • Experience working effectively across a matrixed organization
  • Experience with new business development
  • Experience with financial/operational metrics and analytics
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office i.e., Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.,
  • Proficient with Business Intelligence software, i.e., Cognos
  • Experience with route accounting enterprise software
  • Travel up to 20%
  • This position must pass a postoffer background and drug test

Preferred Skills and Experience:


  • Master's degree
  • Experience working in a union environment
