- Establish and maintain effective education programs in Pediatric Infectious Disease for medical students and residents. Collaborate with other faculty in maintaining excellence in general pediatric education.
- Stimulate and nurture scholarly activity within the Division and strengthen current research portfolio.
- Expand clinical service program to meet regional needs.
- Develop a vision for expansion and growth of current clinical services.
- Provide leadership to support the faculty in the Division of Infectious Diseases to achieve excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research.
- To sustain an existing supportive and collaborative environment for other subspecialists thus facilitating programs that care for high complexity patients.
- To support quality improvement efforts and safety initiatives within the Division and Children's Hospital of Illinois.
- Direct and conduct his/her own research in pediatric infectious diseases.
- Provide care for patients with infectious diseases admitted to Children's Hospital of Illinois, consultation and support to other services and manage patients in ambulatory clinics.
- Collaborate with other ancillary services to provide high quality, safe, and individualized patient, and family centered care.
- Perform duties of a university faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development and administration.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.

Position Summary
The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria, Department of Pediatrics is seeking a pediatric Infectious Disease physician with a track record in healthcare leadership and program development for the position of Division Chief of Pediatric Infectious Disease.
Duties & Responsibilities
UICOMP is one of the three regional campuses of theUniversity of Illinois College of Medicine, one of the largest public medicalschools in the country. UICOMP'seducational programs include 244 medical students and 300 residents/fellows in21 different post graduate programs. TheDepartment of Pediatrics is one of the largest departments at UICOMP. In collaboration with the OSF HealthCareChildren's Hospital of Illinois, the Department has 19 divisions and over 111faculty members providing general pediatrics and subspecialty services to thepediatric population in Central Illinois. The current research infrastructure within the Department includes apediatric clinical trial unit, office of research with a dedicatedbiostatistician, research coordinator support and epidemiologist. There areexisting resources through UICOMP and Children's Hospital of Illinois tosupport research, quality improvement and innovation in health educationprojects. There are significant opportunities for developing clinical andtranslational research projects in pediatric infectious diseases. TheDepartment has a well-established research infrastructure to foster research inartificial intelligence and machine learning applications in pediatrics. AdultInfectious Diseases Division is starting a fellowship training program thissummer, this will provide opportunities for partnership in research andteaching.
About Children's Hospital of Illinois
The primary teaching hospital of UICOMP is Children'sHospital of Illinois, a tertiary care facility serving a 37-county region witha population base of over two million. Children's Hospital of Illinois provides comprehensive services tochildren, including Quaternary Care NICU and a state-designated PediatricCritical Care Center. Children'sHospital of Illinois is a major medical facility with 136 beds and a 32-bedcritical care unit and the only Level 1 trauma center in Illinois outside ofChicago. The hospital is also proud to house the St. Jude Midwest Affiliate,which brings some of the care and services offered by St. Jude in Memphis tocentral Illinois.
Currently there is one pediatric infectious disease faculty in Peoria,and we are recruiting another infectious disease faculty, in addition to theDivision Chief. The program is currently supported by faculty from the Chicagocampus and other regional partners who provide telehealth services. There isalso a large adult infectious disease program on campus.
