The Knappschaft Kliniken GmbH manages the seven hospital networks in which the Deutsche Rentenversicherung Knappschaft-Bahn-See (DRV KBS) holds at least 50 percent ownership. It also supports their management through the service provider Knappschaft Kliniken Solution GmbH (KKSG). Based on a jointly developed strategy, competencies are bundled, resources are used in a targeted manner, and synergy effects are utilized. Together, all Knappschaftskliniken treat around patients annually, resulting in an annual turnover of 1.3 billion euros.

In Germany, the Knappschaft Kliniken are among the largest hospital networks in public ownership.
As a subsidiary of the DRV KBS, the Knappschaft Kliniken GmbH is part of a unique network system. This includes not only the Minijob-Zentrale, but also the pension insurance, supplementary pension insurance, health and long-term care insurance KNAPPSCHAFT, the Seemannskasse, and its own medical competence network.
