- Directs Nursing orientation and staff development to validate and enhance competence of clinical staff.
- Supports implementation and utilization of clinical nursing research.
- Incorporates System and institutional values, goals and objectives into various educational programs presented to staff in alignment with the System dashboard.
- Directs the development and implementation of continuing education programs in Nursing.
- Directs the planning and implementation of education programs which will validate and enhance professional and ancillary competence.
- Educates and markets the roles and responsibilities of nursing to a variety of audiences in the lay and professional community.
- Evaluates program outcomes and makes modifications as needed.
- Organizes nurse educators to meet the educational needs of the nursing staff using the nursing department organizational plan and current developments in the institution and System.
- Chairs the facility Nurse Educator Council.
- Collaborates with nursing leadership, nursing staff and other disciplines to organize Nursing Education, Quality Improvement and Research programs.
- Participates in Nursing Quality Improvement activities. Promotes interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Promotes the use by colleges and universities of the facilities for clinical education and fosters good relationship between hospital and their educational institutions.
- Networks to establish Hospital as a pre-eminent source of professional education, healthcare information and patient care delivery.
- Evaluates program/student placement effectiveness on an ongoing basis.
- Responsible for the total annual budget for nursing education services.
- Analyzes expenses and operations, implements cost effective alternatives which promote quality improvement.
- Participates in the development of institutional and departmental goals and objectives.
- Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports; oversees the selection, development, management and evaluation of indirect reports.

- Master's Degree in Nursing or related field, required.
- Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
- 8-12 years of technical experience and 7+ years of leadership / management experience, required.
