Description

The incumbent will be directed by the Deputy Director, Football Administration and assume oversight and responsibility for the football program's operations, video and equipment staff.

The Chief of Staff, Football is responsible for management of assigned areas, serving as a main point of contact for the department operation, and maintaining consistent and equitable policies for football program in regards to other administrative areas and oversee the use of available resources to the program in an equitable, efficient, effective and compliant manner at all times.

Primary responsibilities will also focus on the development and well-being of over 115 student-athletes and their growth in all areas as students and leaders in the classroom, fields of competition and in the community.

Other duties include the representation of the football program at external events with the Head Football Coach and others in the campus and wider community and oversight of the programs budget and forecasting.

Furthermore, this position will serve as the department's administrative liaison in many areas in the department, on campus, within the BIG10 and other affiliated conferences, and nationally through the NCAA.

Qualifications

  • Skill in managing and organizing personnel, equipment and material resources in order to provide the most efficient working environment. Utilize skills in hiring and training employees to perform a variety of tasks. (required)
  • Ability to interact with, and relate to a variety of constituents from a variety of social, economic, educational and cultural backgrounds. (required)
  • Comprehend the NCAA landscape, both now and long term in regards to studentathlete welfare and competitive resources. (required)
  • Demonstrated experience in using sound judgement to handle sensitive and confidential information/material. Be able to analyze situations and systems, identify problems and implement objective and fair solutions. (required)
  • Possess general knowledge of financial and personnel policies, principles and procedures in a central administrative University setting, as well as, general management principles. (required)
  • Have skill in prioritizing tasks to reflect the importance of the job, including ability to create a schedule and communicate effectively with all affected parties. (required)
  • Employ excellent writing and oral communication skills to communicate effectively at a variety of levels including University Senior management, officials of the NCAA and BIG10, administrators, staff, and coaches. (required)
  • Strong value system and morals to demonstrate leadership to student athletes and program. (required)
  • Experience in managing a multimillion dollar budget with various layers and the ability to use existing resources efficiently to align with departmental budgetary goals. (required)
  • Have the ability to synthesize complex information, including legal and financial information, for presentation in a clear and comprehensive manner. (required)
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other University departments in a complex administrative environment. Knowledge of campus, BIG10 conference, and NCAA rules and regulations (required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. (required)
  • Additional degrees preferred (i.e. MBA, JD, pHD) (preferred)
