NY HELPS
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (
NY HELPS).


At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under
NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination.

Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.

While serving permanently in a
NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

Duties Description

  • Collaborate with program staff by reviewing charter school revision requests from a fiscal perspective to determine if the school has provided sufficient and qualitative information as outlined in the Charter School Revision Guidance;
  • Collaborate with program staff by reviewing the financial documents submitted with the Annual Report from a fiscal perspective to create schoolspecific documents for Board of Regentsauthorized charter schools relevant to their financial condition and financial management status and using those financial documents to update and maintain an Excel based Fiscal Dashboard;
  • Conduct reviews of LEA/school budgets;
  • Provide fiscal and budgetary support to the Director and program staff, including development of annual budget and request;
  • Assist with tasks associated with the office management of a federal Charter Schools Program grant; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

- $65,001 (Full Performance level SG-18)

This position leads to a maximum salary of $82,656 based on annual performance advances and traineeship advances.
