MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


NY HELPS
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (
NY HELPS).


At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under
NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination.

Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.

While serving permanently in a
NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

NON-COMPETITIVE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Master's or higher degree AND four years of professional administrative or educational experience in the United States in a college, university, postsecondary, or higher education agency, a cultural institution with degree granting privileges; or a professional association having oversight, regulatory, or coordinative responsibility for higher or professional education. Two years of this experience must have been at a supervisory or higher level.

PROMOTION:
Current NYSED State employees must have one year of permanent competitive service as an Assistant in Higher Education.
COMPETITIVE

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Masters or higher degree AND four years of professional administrative or educational experience in the United States in a college, university, postsecondary, or higher education agency, a cultural institution with degree granting privileges; or a professional association having oversight, regulatory, or coordinative responsibility for higher or professional education. Duties Description

  • Confidentially support and coordinate the work and policy initiatives of the Deputy Commissioner for Higher Education and represent the Deputy Commissioner in internal and external meetings;
  • Coordinate the activities in the Deputy Commissioner's Office, including creating the agendas for regular manager meetings and managing the logistics related to the OHE items for the monthly Board of Regents meetings;
  • Coordinate the activities of higher educationrelated advisory boards/committees, as assigned;
  • Manage various grants and teacher awards that further the mission of OHE, as appropriate;
  • Supervise administrative support staff who engage in the daily operations of the Deputy Commissioner's Office.

Additional Comments

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This position leads to a maximum salary of $121,360 based on annual performance advances.
