The EDEKA Group North Bavaria-Saxony-Thuringia, based in Rottendorf, is one of seven regional groups within the cooperative EDEKA network.

It serves as a wholesaler and concept provider for around 900 retail stores under the brands "EDEKA", "E center", "MARKTKAUF" and "diska" in North Bavaria, northern Baden-Württemberg, Thuringia and Saxony.

In addition, it operates two production facilities for meat and sausage products through its subsidiary FRANKEN-GUT. The cooperative, which is the nucleus of the group, was founded in 1912.

In 2021, the EDEKA Group North Bavaria-Saxony-Thuringia, together with independent retailers, achieved a total turnover of around 4.8 billion euros and employs around employees and 1,400 trainees.

It is therefore one of the largest employers and trainers in the region.
