Duties:


  • Serves as Attaché Affairs Specialist in the Army Foreign Liaison Directorate, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff (ODCS), G2,Headquarters Department of the Army (HQDA), responsible for leading protocol functions for foreign military attachés.
  • Provides support to foreign military attaché orientation trip programming, senior foreign military leader spouse program planning, and processing invitations to HQDA personnel from foreign embassies.
  • Coordinates with country and/or regional politicalmilitary desk officers to provide Senior Army Leaders with recommendations on appropriate levels of representation.
  • Compiles readahead material for the Secretary of the Army, the Chief of Staff of the Army, the Under Secretary of the Army, the Vice Chief of Staff of the Army, and the Director of the Army Staff, when they attend a foreign embassysponsored event.
  • Maintains regular communication with U.S. Army Attachés overseas to keep them abreast of current Army issues/topics of interest, and acts as lead point of contact for requests for information to the Army Staff from attachés overseas.
  • A
cts as Army Staff lead for the execution of an Army Training Day information briefing program as the final component of the DIA Joint Military Attaché School for U.S. Army Attaché-designates.

  • Responsible for quarterly newsletters and information briefings to foreign military attaches.

Conditions of Employment:


  • Twoyear trial period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 60085, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret (TS) security clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a T5 (or equivalent) investigation.
  • Temporary duty (TDY) travel is required up to 10% of the time.

  • Basic Requirement for Attache Affairs Specialist:
  • A

Degree:

Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with a major or equivalent, or a combination of courses totaling at least 24 semester hours in international law and international relations, political science, economics, history, sociology, geography, social or cultural anthropology, law, statistics, or in the humanities; OR 12 semester hours in one of the above disciplines and 12 semester hours in statistics/quantitative methods.

Experience:

Courses equivalent to a major, or a combination of related courses totaling at least 24 semester hours, in one or more of the social sciences, or in the humanities, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Experience:

Four years of appropriate experience in one or more of the fields, as shown in A above, in work associated with international organizations, problems, or other aspects of foreign affairs.


  • In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
  • Specialized

Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes
coordinating engagements with foreign military personnel.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-12).
