The job responsibilities include project coordination until the opening of the exhibition project "Dealing with National Socialism after 1945" in Summersville, WV, with the following tasks in particular:

  • Participation in the conception and development (including research, object procurement, texts, accompanying program)
  • Conducting interviews with eyewitnesses
  • Conception of target groupspecific museum and media educational offerings and accompanying materials for the exhibition in collaboration with partner organizations
  • Event organization (including school workshops for the development of the exhibition)
  • Public relations
  • Preparation of the evaluation of the exhibition project

Necessary qualifications:

  • Completed university degree in history (Master's or equivalent)
  • First experience in curation and conception, as well as organization and coordination of exhibition projects in museums, e.g. through internships or voluntary social year
  • Sensitivity and communication skills in working with eyewitnesses, especially survivors of the Holocaust of German and foreign origin, as well as with institutions and initiatives for remembering the Nazi crimes
  • Indepth knowledge of Nazi persecution policies, as well as German memory culture and politics, particularly regarding memory culture in the GDR and its national memorials and monuments
  • Strong communication skills and empathy in dealing with museum visitors, especially young people
  • First experience in developing interactive media/applications, in the field of press and public relations, as well as project management
  • Very good knowledge of German and English, both written and spoken, as well as knowledge of other foreign languages (
