Foster, MO - The Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW) in Berlin is the leading wildlife research institute in Germany.

It is one of seven research institutes in the Forschungsverbund Berlin e. V., a member of the Leibniz Association, and is jointly funded by the German federal and state governments.

The IZW focuses on studying the life histories and evolutionary adaptations of mammals and birds, as well as the impact of natural and human-influenced environments on these mechanisms.

The institute also works on developing conservation strategies that consider these factors.

The research at IZW covers various fields, including evolutionary ecology, ecological dynamics, evolutionary genetics, wildlife diseases, reproductive biology, and reproduction management.


The IZW is currently seeking a part-time (75%) Artificial Intelligence (AI) / Data Scientist for its Department of Evolutionary Ecology.


Job Description:


  • Curating and training data
  • Utilizing artificial intelligence and data science techniques

Requirements:


  • Completed or near completion of a relevant degree from a university
  • Proficiency in English (both written and spoken)
  • Strong skills in Python and/or R
  • Experience with machine learning techniques such as Random Forest or Support Vector Machine
  • Knowledge of Deep Learning with Keras or Pytorch
  • Interest in the behavior of wild animals
